two ponds stocked seasonally with trout. There are 22 fishing and boating sites providing access to recently
-restored populations of striped bass, weakfish, and summer flounder, as well as artificial reefs at 11 sites, populated with black sea bass, tautog, and other species.

Kalmar Nyckel - The Tall Ship of Delaware
The original Kalmar Nyckel sailed from Sweden to the New World in 1638 leaving its passengers to establish
the first permanent European settlement in the Delaware Valley, the Colony of New Sweden in present-day
Wilmington, Delaware. She made a total of four roundtrip crossings of the Atlantic—more than any other ship
of the era. Her first voyage to the New World left 24 settlers of Swedish, Finnish, German and Dutch descent
in the Delaware Valley. Joining them was a black freedman who sailed from the Caribbean aboard her companion ship the Fogel Grip.

Lincoln and the North entered the war to preserve the Union rather than to free the slaves, but within a
relatively short time emancipation became an accepted war aim. Neither Congress nor the president knew

On June 2, 1608, Captain John Smith and fourteen English colonists set out from Jamestown in a 30-foot open
