Georgians make khachapuri. It does resemble pizza but, unlike in Italy, khachapuri is baked by women and best of all, by our grandmothers.

Ajika, tqemali, and satsebeli are what the Georgians, who have gone far away abroad, miss most. For Westerners, these untranslatable words and sauces that other people have never heard of are probably most similar to ketchup. A carton full of bottles of ajika and tqemali is the most common package to be sent from home to a Georgian who lives abroad.

In Georgia, vine was a cultivated plant as early as 7,000 years ago and the name of wine was spread to Europe and the rest of the world precisely from the Georgian word ghvino denominating this wonderful liquid.
There is no place on Earth where so many varieties of vine -- about 700 -- thrive in a country with such a small territory.
