BRUGES > BELGIUM > EUROPE > INDEX

Bruges known as the "Venice of the North" also shares some characteristics with Amsterdam with its gabled Flemish buildings, canals and cobbled streets. Bruges is notable for the beauty of its architecture.

Bruges' inner city offers many delights from moules frites in tiny squares, to chocolate and fine beers for the serious "foodie". Guided canal trips let you see the hidden corners of the city at water level, or a relaxing horse drawn carriage trip will let you see Bruges' olde worlde charm at a different height.
Delightful walks can be taken on the outskirts of the city and lovely café's dot the tree lined parks.

Parts of Bruges : Brugge Center, Assebroek, Dudzele, Koolkerke, Lissewege, St-Andries, St-Jozef, St-Kruis, St-Michiels, St-Pieters, Zeebrugge and Zwankendamme

Cuisine

Belgium plays a central role in the gastronomic life of Western Europe. The Belgian is well-known for his Burgundian lifestyle and he takes great pleasure in sharing this with his guests. The restaurants are known for their quality, and what finer way to end an exciting day than with a typical Flemish stew washed down with an Ardennes trappist beer?
