Travel Canada's Northwest Territories - NWT Tourism
The NWT's treasures include several of Canada's greatest rivers, biggest lakes and most important National
Parks. Rare wildlife roams free, and millions of birds migrate through the Mackenzie Valley. Aboriginal tradition
thrives in communities built on a rich fur-trade, exploration and mining heritage. Small and widely scattered,
they're linked by roads, rivers or bush airlines that converge on our bustling Capital, Yellowknife.
City of Yellowknife - Capital City of the North West Territories
Capital of the Northwest Territories & Diamond Capital of North America. A culturally rich city thriving with
diversity, and home to over 18,000 people. Yellowknife is a capital at the edge of the wilderness, surrounded
by history, culture, adventure and prosperity. The city is a place of beautiful contrasts. On the north shore of
Great Slave Lake, modern high-rise towers overlook the rustic heritage buildings of Yellowknife's not so
distant frontier past. A modern metropolis meets a vast wilderness. The brilliance of summer's midnight sun gives way to winter's dazzling display of the aurora borealis.
Town of Hay River - see Hayriver.com
Hay River is more than just summer - as a matter of fact, some of our most enjoyable times happen in a frosty
world. Come join us on a snowmobile ride, a dog sled run, a sliding party, or just a walk or cross-country ski through a this vast winter wonderland.
The present municipal boundaries of Hay River extend to just south of Paradise Valley, about 28 kilometres
south on Highway 2; these boundaries about those of the settlement of Enterprise. The west and north
boundaries are formed by the south shore of Great Slave Lake to the west side of the mouth of the Hay River.
Town of Inuvik - Land of the Midnight Sun and Gateway to the Beaufort-Delta
Inuvik is a place of rich diversity, located on the Mackenzie Delta - Canada's largest fresh water delta, close
to the Arctic Ocean, with a spectacular view of the Richardson Mountains. Inuvik is nested between the
treeless tundra and the northern boreal forest, and overlooks the incredible maze of lakes and streams of the
Delta. Whether you are looking for northern arts and culture, remote rivers and wilderness, a chance to see
arctic wildlife, or just a place to relax and enjoy the midnight sun - Inuvik is your destination. Inuvik has a lot to offer and is also the gateway to other northern communities and adventures.
