Kuala Lumpur - Capital City of Malaysia - Kuala Lumpur City
The capital, Kuala Lumpur, lies midway along the West Coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur represents the heartbeat of Malaysia, serving as its cultural, commercial and transportation centre.
It all began in the Middle of the 19th century when a group of tin prospectors came to settle around the convergence of the Klang and Gombak river. This marked the foundation of Kuala Lumpur and it has been its share of growth and setbacks to become metropolitan centre of today.

Cuisine - Malay Cooking

The unique and authentic cooking styles and flavours of Malay, Chinese and Indian cuisine is an experience to be enjoyed when visiting Malaysia. Coconut, chilli, lemongrass and lime leaves feature prominently in Malay cooking and a traditional accompaniment to meals is a hot sambal made from ground chilli and prawn paste. The famous dish of Satay consists of skewers of barbecued beef or chicken served with a sweet and spicy peanut sauce and accompanied with cucumber, onions and cubes of rice boiled in palm leaves. Chinese cuisine is generally less spicy and consists of meat and vegetables with a rice, noodle or soup base. Among the popular Muslim Indian dishes is Nasi Kandar. Nasi is Malay for rice and is eaten with meats, poultry and fish in thick gravies and curries.

History of Malaysia

The earliest recorded Malay kingdoms grew from coastal city-ports established in the 10th Century AD. These include Langkasuka and Lembah Bujang in Kedah, as well as Beruas and Gangga Negara in Perak and Pan Pan in Kelantan. Islam arrived in the 14th century in Terengganu.
